In addition to covering boxing at the Beijing Olympics, I also photographed the opening ceremony. To photograph the event, I carried a monopod, a camera bag full of batteries and memory cards, 2 Nikon D3's, and a Canon 5D.
The photographer's section was high up and the stadium was huge — there were 100K+ spectators. By the time I got to my seat it felt like I had climbed Mount Everest. I vowed to go small, never again would I use a huge camera for an event in which I needed to be mobile.
It seems everyone has a Canon or Nikon and I wanted something different. The Fuji line is old school and the lenses top notch. I'll use any camera but my Fuji is a good fit for me.
